A reflection on Mother's Day
Ayurveda
views child rearing as something sacred. And so
it should be. There is an Ayurvedic word for child
care; Kumara-Bhritya. Ayurveda teaches that caring
for your child is one of the most important things
you can do.
Having been a new Mom now for the past six months,
I now view my own mother in a completely different
light.
As I bathe my son, comb his hair, dress him, and
take him for a walk, I realize all the small things
that my mother did for me that went unnoticed. All
those itsy-bitsy little things that can fill an
entire day. Those things that were done out of love,
patience, kindness and a desire to raise a good
human being.
I mean, I know how to dress myself, brush my teeth,
use a toilet, comb my hair, walk and talk, because
she showed me how. I didn't learn it by divine knowledge,
or by reading a book somewhere. (Although, I know
how to read a book because she taught me that as
well.)
Regardless of who your mother figure was, you had
a mother of some sort who raised you. For some,
it's a struggling foster father. For others, it's
a loving stay at home mother who is there with a
glass of milk and cookies after school. There are
so many things that make you who you are because
she taught them to you.
So when you call you mom on Mother's Day, remember
to thank her for all the little, unnoticeable things
that she's done for you. Let her know, they did
not go unnoticed after all.
Happy Mother's Day

Cheesy
Grits
What can I say, except these are yuuuuuummmmy! These
grits make a fantastic Mother's Day breakfast! (Hint,
hint!) And did I mention they are low fat and easy
to make?
Inspired by product: Only Natural
Inspired Ingredients: Corn Meal
This recipe is based on 1 serving, according to
package instructions.
1 serving of just made grits
3 oz (4 slices) of Kraft low fat chedder cheese
Make your grits, and as they start to thicken, add
your cheese. Stir till melted. That's it!
For more servings (trust me, you'll want more!),
just add 3 oz of cheese for every serving. No need
to add butter. These grits are really creamy.
