Hi weeyogi, I wish I could help you but I am not aware of anyone who does blood letting in the UK. If anyone out there can help with this, please post a comment. Congratulations on your panchakarma experience! It sounds like you had a wonderful, life-changing experience. Thank you so much for sharing.

Paige, everyone has elements of the three doshas within us. Usually, one type is dominant but it is not uncommon to discover that a person is a dual doshic. What is your other dosha type?

Hi there,
I have just found your blog while searching Rakta Moksha. Thanks for blogging your experiences!
My partner suffers from Hemochromatosis, a rare blood condition which requires regular blood letting or it can become a real life threat. We are yet to find anyone who practices this in the UK as I think it may have been made illegal (!!!)...crazy as it is such a valuble practice.
Do you know of anywhere that does this in the UK?
In response to your blog...I have been to an amazing panchakarma clinic in Kerala called Aditya. It was the best place to do panchakarma...it changed my life on so many levels...one of the best things I ever did! Panchakarma strips you back to your true self so you can get rid of all the conditioning and start again. Now I am a raw foodist so it is a little different but I am so sure the panchakarma prepared me for this new way of living. I have never felt so alive!
Goodluck with your blog :)

Hi Tiffany!

I love pancakes too, and thought I'd share dosha-friendly toppings for them! All doshas can have ghee (Kaphas in small amounts), and additionally Vatas can have raw honey, Pittas do great with maple syrup, and Kaphas also do well with raw honey (in small amounts). I've also made a sugar-free jam using reconstituted dried fruits that makes a great pancake topping for all doshas!

Natural baking powder (alum-free, based on baking soda) also helps make pancakes fluffier, as do mashed bananas (for Vatas) or applesauce (for Pittas and Kaphas). :-)

Hi Samant!

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I know it can be really miserable. My son (10 months old), has eczema as well. However, there is hope. Baby eczema can be different from adult eczema. Many babies will grow out of it.

I will let you know what the doctor says, but in the mean time, you want to give your baby some relief. There are two oils which I have found very helpful in relieving the discomfort of eczema. Olive oil (the kind you keep in your kitchen cabinet for cooking), and high oleic safflower oil (purchase at your local health food store).

Other things to try:

Purchase a filter for your bath/shower that will remove the chlorine in the water which is very drying to the skin. You can purchase these at your local home improvement store or hardware store.

Never bathe your baby in hot or cold water. Tepid or room temperature is best as it will aggravate your babies skin the least. If you must heat the room for your baby's comfort, do so with steam from a running hot shower, but keep the bath water luke warm.

Also, if the skin is very red and inflamed, you can steep chamomile flowers (you can purchase these very inexpensively at a local health food store) in a pot of boiling water, and then add this to a tepid bath, making sure not to get the bath water to hot.

I hope this helps. While these suggestions are not specifically Ayurvedic, they are solutions that help me and my baby.

Take care and good luck!
